Another promising young Gun gets useful loan spell by Rupe
on 23/11/06 at 21:15
this is story 1144 of 1150 in this topic to date
Young Arsenal defender Matthew Connolly has gone on loan to Bournemouth, until January 2nd. Cherries boss Kevin Bond says, "He's an accomplished defender who reads the game well. He's a good build and I'm sure he'll turn out to be a quality player.".

Connolly featured in the Carling Cup win over West Brom a month ago, but as a centre back, and with Kolo Toure, William Gallas, Phillipe_Senderos and Johan Djourou ahead of him his chances of getting games for Arsenal in any other competition are slim to say the least. Like Nicklas Bendtner (on loan to Birmingham till January) and Anthony Stokes (Falkirk) it would be surprising if he came back this season (although in Stokes case there's a lot of paper talk about Premiership clubs eyeing a move for him in the New Year).

Bendtner and Stokes both look like they can put the ball in the net though, Stokes especially who hit 10 goals in 5 games to go top of the Scottish Premier League scoring chart. So you never know.

Fabrice Muamba (Birmingham), Arturo Lupoli (Derby), Sebastian Larsson and, er, Jose Antonio Reyes, all of whom are also doing well with their loan clubs, are all on season-long loans already.
