The Evening Standard reports that reserve team striker Omer Riza has signed for West Ham for a "nominal fee". He was out of contract at Arsenal and following a trial at West Ham has signed a two and a half year contract with the East London club.
Riza got his one and only Arsenal first-team game as a last-minute sub in the League Cup win at Derby in October
1998. See also Reserve team page for biog info and reports on reserve matches featuring Riza.
Arsenal are also said to have rejected a 6-figure compensation offer from West Ham for midfielder Leon Britton. No, not the ex Tory
minister. This is a 17-yr old (ex-)Arsenal youngster.
Arsenal were presumably encouraged by the tribunal decision
that the Irons should pay Charlton up to £1.65million for
Jermaine Defoe.
