Being interviewed after the Leicester game today,
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger had some reassuring
words regarding rumours in the press today that he could be
tempted by a big money offer to go manage Japan for the
World Cup in 2002.
He confirmed that he has a contract with Arsenal till June 2002,
which leaves no time to take on the Japan job, and that he
intends to honour that contract. This comes as no surprise to
those of us who've followed what he's said about such things
previously. It's just surprising that so many hacks were happy
to believe the stories comign out of Japan. See eg
Sporting Life, Soccernet.
