In a Soccernet article, Dennis Bergkamp has apparently spoken about what could keep him at Arsenal beyond his current contract. Dennis's deal runs out at the end of next season,
and there has been speculation that he'll be waiting till then
before deciding anything.
But the good news is that Arsenal are said to be keen to
persuade the Dutch maestro to stay, and he likes the club
and the city enough to say that "I'm really leaning towards continuing my career here". What he does
want is assurances from the club that they won't let the
standard of defensive excellence slip. We'd all be very happy
if they could give us that assurance, Dennis! But it's certainly
nice to read that a player like Bergkamp recognises that
everything we have is built upon the likes of Adams
Keown Dixon and Winterburn. |
