TeamTalk report that Robert Pires' agent met with Arsene Wenger yesterday to discuss a possible move to Arsenal in the summer. They further speculate that this would open the door
for Barcelona to take Marc Overmars.
Overmars has repeatedly said that he is offended by the talk of
his wanting away from Arsenal. But in any case,
am I wrong in thinking that Pires is not actually
a left winger? That he is actually right-sided? He may lead with his left foot when
standing up (true, but just a superstition, see here)
but wasn't he in the France98 squad as a right-winger? (in fact,
he lost his place there in the starting line-up to their top scorer in the competition, our own
Thierry Henry).
But if he's a right-sided playmaker that would undermine this
week's top rumour: Beckham for Arsenal. And we wouldn't want that would we?
