Best of luck to Nigel Winterburn in his new job
at West Ham United. We have been blessed with some
special players at Arsenal over the years, but when it comes
to enthusiasm, work-rate, and attitude few of them could
compare with the Nutty boy.
Nigel seems to have been getting younger as the years rolled by,
and only a year ago he was picked as Arsenal's player of the season.
Although Silvinho has so far failed to show that he's a better player than Winterburn, he is a superb prospect and so, knowing that Nigel's days were numbered, it made sense for Arsenal to
bring the young Brasilian in now. Arsene Wenger has commented on
the fact that Nigel was happy to help Silvinho settle, "one more
sign of his class".
Nigel can leave Arsenal with
his head held high, never having played a bad season, never (to my memory) having played a bad game. He was always one of the last off the pitch, staying behind to thank the fans. West Ham have got themselves a bargain, whatever the price.
See official West Ham site
for their announcement.
Meanwhile, West Ham's efforts to grab another fantastic left foot from our ranks continue. But talks with Davor Suker are said to have gotten nowhere after several days (see KUMB) and it's possible that PSG will come back into the picture. |
