Arsenal have confirmed the sale of Silvinho to Celta Vigo, without (as usual) telling us how much we got for him. But the announcement on Arsenal.com throws up a couple of surprises.

'During the close season, Arsenal Football Club entered into a contract with Corinthians of Brazil for the sale of the player,' it reveals. 'However, Silvinho was unable to agree personal terms with Corinthians and has subsequently been transferred to Celta Vigo.'

Further - there's no hint whatsoever of a compromise to suit Celta's difficult current circumstances. The Spanish side had too many foreigners on its books, and was also understood to be a bit short in the cash department. But judging by the statement at least, it's a straight sale.
