Arsenal and Liverpool are competing to sign Crewe striker Dean Ashton for GBP 2.5 million. The highly-rated 18-year-old has been a first-team regular in the First Division side for a season already. Liverpool confirmed their interest after Crewe told them of the Arsenal move - because of the trwo clubs' "special relationship". A move to either club could happen this week, according to the Mirror. Arsenal have been chasing Ashton for months after the target man impressed them in an FA Youth Cup tie.
