Stop wondering which tabloid story regarding who's going
to be replacing Patrick Vieira. He's going nowhere and
we're not in the market for a big-name midfielder.
That's the message from Arsene Wenger today.
"We rate Michael Carrick very highly but this is not the best moment to speak about that. For next season, I think we won't buy any midfielders. We already have many midfielders and Edu has done extremely well. We also have some younger players we want to push up into the first team next season.
It sounds like Wenger thinks we'll be able to cope without
Pires for the start of next season. To my mind that means
he thinks he'll be using a youngster or two, a lot more than this season at any rate. Note that Grimandi is going, and
despite Edu's excellent recent form he had a mare against Ipswich, and his replacement the Grimster came off the bench
and had a stormer.
