AFCi has confirmed that Arsenal have signed Uruguayan world cup goalkeeper Fabian Carini on a year's loan, with an option to make the deal permanent after that period. 22 year-old Carini joins from Juventus where he spent two years as backup to Italian international Buffon.
A new keeper this season was almost inevitable with Wright being allowed to move to Everton earlier this week, and 3rd string keeper Graham Stack sent to Beveren on a 3 month loan. Perhaps Carini impressed Wenger in Turin, where he played against Arsenal and saved Thierry Henry's penalty in the Champions League match last season. |
