After the fun of last year's glorious pre-season opener, Arsenal fans will surely be surprised to hear that Arsène
Wenger is reportedly trying to avoid this year's
Charity Shield clash with Man United altogether.
According to reports, the reason Arsenal haven't released
ticket details yet is that they're trying to find another team
to take our place. The suggestion is that M Wenger wasn't happy
with United's aggressive approach last time.
Chelsea won't be keen as it's close to their Champion's League
qualifier, and apparently serial FA Cup final losers Newcastle
haven't been asked (yet), so it'll be best to keep the date
(Sunday August 1st) pencilled in for now.
