Lee Dixon testimonial vs Real Madrid by Rupe
on 26/10/99 at 10:15
this is story 36 of 90 in this topic to date
Massive apologies due to living legend Lee Dixon for our not having pointed you in this direction before.

On Monday 8th November, Real Madrid will be visiting Highbury for Lee's testimonial.Tickets are now on sale to TRS and ST holders, and go on general sale on Friday. See AFCi for details. The match was originally scheduled for August 31st but was postponed because it clashed with the Notting Hill carnival!

According to reports, Nicolas Anelka has said that he'd rather not play and he's trying to get out of it. Apparently he thinks he mightn't get a very warm reception from the fans.

The tie has attracted some controversy, since the massive Scotland-England tie is the following Saturday and Arsene Wenger has said that our England stars will be playing. Especially given the timing of the match, the day after the Tottenham game at White Hart Lane, it's understandable that there's some eyebrow-raising going on. But hopefully the Monday night game will be one of those "no tackling allowed" matches, and it certainly wouldn't be right for the likes of Seaman Adams and Keown to be missing from Lee's testimonial! (anyone know if Bouldy's coming? surely!).

It's only fitting that such a great servant of the Arsenal should be honoured by the visit of such a huge club, and we encourage all Arsenal fans to come and show their appreciation.
