Champs League on telly (NOT): same old story by Rupe

Many Arseweb readers have been writing to point out that the TV companies have let us down again. Thanks, all.

After the last few years of annually announcing that ITV are showing Liverpool/Man Utd/etc instead of us (even in London), it just didn't seem like news anymore....

It's a bit hard to find comprehensive and definitive information online, but the situation as I understand it is the next match away to PSV on Sept 25th can only be seen via cable television services. The same is true of at least one of the other 2 away games in the first phase.

Other matches will be shown on the ITN News channel, which is NOT available on SkyDigital. This week the Man Utd match wasn't even on ITV1, so you had to have something other than terrestrial telly to get it.

Arseweb is going to try to put together some information in time for the next match. So if you can help please email me.

Please note that when we ask for information like this, we usually are inundated with replies. It is wonderfully gratifying to know that so many of you want to help your fellow Gooners in this kind of way, but please do not be heasty in composing your reply. That flood of emails always includes a huge number that contradict each other, and it is a mountain of work to collate and extract the true information.

So unless your message contains concrete information and a source (a direct quote with reference or, preferably, a web page link), we will probably not even look at it. It's not that we're not grateful, it's just that there is only so much time to collate and publish the information.

Also, please do check the next item and the Champs League page (where I'll be archiving all the info we receive) to check that you're not sending us stuff we've already got.

In particular we'll try to put together a list of pubs which will be showing the games. We do have our long-standing pub list, but seeing as it focussed mainly on Sky and ITVdigital, the information there may not be so useful this season. So please let us know if you know of a good pub which you know will definitely be showing the Arsenal games, and I'll start a new list for this season.

Another thing that's be useful to know is whether or not ITN News channel is available through the revamped/downgraded terrestrial digital service. I'm sure there are many gooner who, like me, have a set-top box gathering dust somewhere. I think it's probably too much to hope for though!

And if anyone's found a definitive list of which games will be shown on which channels (ITN News/ITV1/ITV2/etc) that'd be really handy too.
