Before the charity quiz at Arsenal Stadium last night, David Dein held an impromptu 15 minutes Q&A session, during which some very interesting things were said regarding the new stadium and the current one. Thanks to Peter Northcott for
the following:
- Progress with the Ashburton Grove development plans is reasonable - although there is still a long way to go - the Council are, in general, supportive of the proposal.
- The club have not yet thought through what will happen to
bondholders - there is a possibility of B/Hs getting a block of the new
stadium. I did not get the impression that bondholders would be
stitched up a la Newcastle!
- The club do not want to be unreasonable over ticket price increases, but it is a very difficult balancing act given rapidly spiralling players wages.
- and the one which will please Arsenal fans most in the short term....
Should we qualify, next season's Champions League games will be played
at Highbury (several thousand season ticket holders in the East Upper
will have to be displaced for increased press facilities and UEFA's
"corporate guests").
