Arsenal have released the first blueprint of the proposed new Ashburton Grove stadium... which we have to say, at first glance looks a lot like the Stade de France. As if we need another French import... :)
It will have a capacity of 60,000 as expected, spread over 4 tiers - although that still leaves it smaller than Old Trafford, with the inevitable restaurants and bars. The plan also includes proposals to improve public transport and crowd movement.
The new stadium would open in time for the 2004/5 season. We note with interest that it is not being referred to by any particular name, except 'the new stadium at Ashburton Grove'.
