Arsenal's plans for a new 60,000 seater stadium, revealed on Tuesday, could be vetoed by London mayor Ken Livingstone, according for Football Unlimited. Islington residents fiercely opposed to the plans are urging the mayor to block the club's plans. Despite Arsenal claiming to have the full support of Islington council, it is mayor Livingstone who will have the final say over whether the plans will be allowed to go ahead. "We are prepared to take this all the way," warns Alison Carmichael, press officer for the Islington Stadium Communities Alliance who oppose the plans. "We want Ken Livingstone to decide on this. It is an issue for the whole of London." "For a proposal this size the mayor must be consulted," confirms Greater London Authority spokesman Sean O'Curneen. "Should he deem the plans unacceptable he will be able to prevent the move from going ahead..html"
