Arseweb has learnt, from a very well placed source, that Arsenal are looking very seriously at the prospect of moving to Greenwich, and the site of the Millennium Dome.

OK, OK - Arseweb readers of a certain vintage will remember that we made this rumour up as an April Fool joke, more than 2 years ago!, but this time it's deadly serious... so we understand.

There is real concern at the cost of the proposed Ashburton Grove project, not least due to the many environmental improvements which would be part of the planning permission agreement. And with the Nomura and Legacy bids for the Dome site having (apparently) fallen by the wayside, the Government is seeking fresh offers.

It may be no more than an emergency backup plan (and well done to the club for some wise contingency planning if that's the case - we shouldn't put all our eggs in one basket). But it's certainly in the minds of some very (and we mean v-e-r-y) senior figures in the Marble Halls.
