As predicted yesterday, Ken Livingstone today gave the Mayor's seal of approval to Arsenal's stadium plans.
Ken decided not to exercise his right of veto, following
Islington Council's overwhelming votes in favour. The only
remaining obstacle is the possibility that Secretary of State Stephen "my job's safe" Byers will call for a public inquiry.
See Arsenal.com for the club's view on
that possibility.
A public inquiry would delay things by up to 2 years and could even end up blocking the move completely. But it seems unlikely at this stage that Byers will act.
