Despite previous suggestions to the contrary, Wembley will be remaining open until August 2000, according to information released following the sale of the stadium to the English National Stadium Development Company. And with a Champions League place looking a certainty again next year, and with Highbury still not meeting UEFA regulations, it looks like we'll be reclaiming the Twin Towers again next season.
Stamford Bridge, according to the Express, won't meet the UEFA regulations either, so it looks like our good mates Chelsea might have to join us in borrowing the national stadium. I wonder what that will do to the fixture lists? And more to the point, when Wembley does close, will there be a stadium in London able to handle Champions League football - Twickenham? Or dare I say it, White Hart Lane?
