The Wembley shadow simply won't go away. This time it's the Sunday Telegraph reporting that the Ashburton Grove project will be so delayed that Arsenal will have to be tenants at the new National Stadium while waiting a season or two for completion of their own new home. It is becoming 'increasingly possible' that the banks Arsenal are relying on to borrow £250m for the new stadium will be unable to deliver the cash by 2006, the paper reports. The report also claims that some fans have written to the club, threatening to give up their season tickets because they feel the lack of transfer activity threatens Arsenal's sporting ambitions, and they believe that the stadium project restricts spending on new players. |
