Arsenal (0) 1 - 0 (0) Watford
Kanu 86
Why break a winning formula? Well, as anyone who was at Wembley would have told Monsieur Wenger in advance, there is little worse than winning a game hands-down, but not having the goals to show for it. The Wembley terraces were seething with frustration until Thierry Henry came good.
But Arsene must have got a taste for last minute heroics. This time, it was even lowlier opposition (sorry Watford) and a slightly earlier goal.
'Kanu picked up a long throw from the right from Oleg Luzhny. With his back to goal he reversed into a Watford defender before spinning round and hitting a powerful shot through a crowd of Watford players and into the back of the net from just four yards out.' (Thanks to football.sports.com)
But not quite the sort of result to have Barcelona shaking in their boots, I fear.
