Arsenal (0) 3 - 0 (0) Coventry City
Highbury, Sunday 26th March 2000
FA Carling Premiership
Although Arsenal completely dominated the first half,
there weren't too many clear-cut chances.
But 5 minutes after the break Henry latched onto a great
ball forward from Vieira and slipped the ball past the
42-yr old keeper Steve Ogrizovic.
From then on things looked much more positive, and it was only
a great perfrormance of shot-stopping from "Oggy" (his kicking
wasn't so assured!) that kept the score to 1-0.
But with 12 minutes to go Grimandi banged one in from a crowded box after Petit's whipped-in free-kick fell at his feet.
And 2 minutes later Kanu produced one of those goals that just
makes you laugh with joy. He could have shot. He could have passed to Overmars clear on the other side of the box. But no,
he waved his feet about a bit and waited for Oggy to fall over
before passing into the net.
Don't worry Steve, it happens to the best. Well played, mate.
Full reports to follow.
The win takes up back to 4th, with Liverpool 2 points ahead in the coveted 3rd place. Leeds slipped up (to Leicester) today and are only 6
points ahead. |
