Dave Seaman played the full 90 minutes of the reserves 5-1 win over Wimbledon last night (including a hattrick for Jermaine Pennant), and afterwards declared himself ready for a return to action, possibly even in Saturday's home derby against Chelsea. He didn't have a lot to do last night, although he did make a botch of a clearance, which led to the Dons' consolation goal.
Seaman has been out of action since October,
giving Alex Manninger another chance to establish himself, a chance which he has failed to take convincingly. Seaman will be wanting to get back quickly, so he can impress the new England boss in time for the friendly against Spain. Hopefully his return will also stem the tide of new Arsenal keeper rumours (although only his signing a new contract will do that for sure - apparently he's considering a one-year deal at the moment), and of course help the Arsenal defence return to their mean ways.
Arsenal's big problem could be at the back again. The makeshift little-and-large defence of Vivas and Stepanovs coped with Carlisle, but could they cope with the likes of Zola, Hasselbaink, and Gudjohnson? Hopefully at least one of Adams Keown Grimandi and Luzhny will be available!
It'll be interesting to see how Chelsea line up, with Ranieri obviously trying to ring some changes recently, dropping stars
like the Ogron De Goey, Frank Le Boeuf, and Dennis Wise. We
expect Wise to play, following this week's farce of a transfer story.
