Back down to earth after last week's extraordinary set of
results: anyone really believe at the start of it that we'd annihilate Tottenham twice and beat Valencia, coming back from behind twice?
Anyway, tonight we've got a tricky trip to Maine Rd to face a City side desperate for a win.
Bergkamp is still out, and Adams and Dixon are expected to be rested. Wenger has said that he's not 100% sure who to replave them with. Vivas at right back and Luzhny in the middle is possible, but he also feels that perhaps it's time to let Igors Stepanovs out again. Either way, looks like
Oleg'll play.
And the rest? Well, it'd be no surprise if Vieira was rested after his tireless heroics of Sunday. Perhaps M Le Boss, we could have a look at Edu? Please?
Man City have ex-Gunner Paul Dickov starting a suspension,
and Wrighty's adopted son Shaun Wright-Phillips out injured. Keeper Nicky Weaver is expected to make way for
debutant Carlo Nash following a couple of
much-publicised howlers.
Their main uncertainty is over Shaun Goater, who missed the
loss to Everton at the weekend with a groin strain. Royle is hoping he'll shrug it off in time for tonight but if not, Huckerby or
Ostenstad will partner Wanchope up front. Latest
is that Goater trained this morning, is stiff but not sore, and will
probably play. The official MCFC site also reports that Mark Kennedy may replace Andrei Kanchelskis.
