In what can only be an encouraging development for Saturday, Liverpool dropped two points at home to Chelsea and now can only finish above us if they win away to Charlton and we lose both our remaining league matches.
Meanwhile, Leeds bombed out of the Champions League (0-3 agg) away to Valencia, having performed significantly worse in the Mestalla than we did. So normal service is resumed. Mr. Gracious in Defeat himself refused to make excuses. Well, no, actually he whinged on for a while about video evidence and handballs etc.
Should we win on Saturday and should Ipswich pip Liverpool and Leeds for #3, cue endless moaning about irony, heartbreak, desperately close etc. from Anfield and Elland Rd. over the summer months.
