Not many changes expected for tonight's game. One possibility
though is that Bergkamp's telling contribution off the benchg
on Saturday could have earned him a start. Wenger has hinted as much (see Sports.com), saying that "He has made his claim to start against Leeds and has a chance but it is one of the decisions I'm paid to make."
Wenger also denies that the club tried to offload Dennis to
Fulham in the summer. It had been claimed that it was only Bergkamp's
refusal to leave which scuppered a £2million move. But the Arsenal version is that Fulham came asking and it was put
to the player... "Fulham showed some interest and probably wanted to sign him but I told Dennis this and he didn't want to go just as much as I didn't want to let him," says Wenger. And
"He is sharp and keen and knows he's an important player at the club. He signed a new two-year extension to his contract a few months ago and I didn't let him do that to sell him now."
Keown is unlikely to return just yet, but one other likely change in the introduction of Gio van Bronckhorst to bed in
his partnership with Vieira as Parlour has a suspension
coming up. But Parlour's battling qualities may be required so perhaps he'll switch to the right in place of Ljungberg.
But you never know. Grimandi could even get a start.
Leeds are expected to start with Smith and Keane up front. Smith
started on the bench on Saturday but like Dennis he made a telling
contribution when he came on (scoring a real peach).
Lucas Radebe is out with a toe injury.
