Tony Adams is a major doubt for the Leicester game, having picked
up a knee problem on Tuesday. But Martin Keown has made good progress with
his knee and could be ready to step in. If Tone does miss the game, the armband will presumably go to new vice-captain Patrick Vieira.
Leicester have more injury problems. Matt Elliott is doubtful with a throat infection while Dean Sturridge and Callum Davidson are struggling with hamstring and knee problems respectively.
Former Tottenham shot-watcher Ian Walker is suspended (shame)
and Darren Eadie is out for the season.
Leicester will be after double revenge. Not only did they lose
5-0 at home to Bolton on the opening day of the season, but
their trip to Highbury last year also resulted in a 5 goal deficit. Boss Peter Taylor has been quoted as saying that his days
at Filbert St could be numbered. Following a poor second half of
last season, Taylor was expecting not to have many chances at
the start of this one, and a 5-0 home loss to Premiership
new boys will only have reduced thei rnumber.
The Arsenal.com preview, now up, says nothing about
Adams being doubtful. Rather, it says that Keown's return
leaves Wenger with a selection dilemma. It also confirms
Dixon's unavailability, along with Edu and Upson. And there's
a hint (but no more) that van Bronckhorst could play a bigger part.
