Tottenham 1 (0) Poyet 94 Arsenal 1 (0) Pires 81 Premier League, White Hart Lane, attendance 36,000 plus
Gus Poyet's equaliser almost 4 minutes into injury time gave Spurs a point at home to Arsenal. The former Uruguay international's volley was fumbled into the net by Richard Wright.
Robert Pires had given Arsenal the lead 10 minutes earlir with an incredible 20 yard strike that burned Neil Sullivan's fingertips.
Wright had earlier in the game impressed with a series of important saves, but seemed at times unsure in the area.
Sol Campbell played, and had a good game. He made his presence
felt in the first few minutes when his first act was a massive
tackle that took out both Poyet and Ferdinand.
Ferdinand was lucky not to be sent off. Having already been
booked, he clearly played the ball into the net with his raised arm. But the ref was content merely to disallow the goal.
A little disappointing not to have won after being ahead so late into added time. But most of us would probably have taken a draw if
offered it at the start, and Tottenham did have the best of the first half and some of the second. It was nice to see Tavlaridis promoted to the bench after his impressive display in the League Cup.
