Arsenal 4 (3) Lauren, Vieira, Henry 2
Fulham 1 (1) Marlet
Premier League, HighburyA good win all round for Arsenal over Fulham. The two teams' French managers sent out 11 French players in all, including the Premiership debut of young Arsenal substitute Jeremie Aliadiere late in the game. Lauren and Patrick Vieira scored their first goals of the season, while Thierry Henry scored two to keep his place at the top of the league's scoring charts. Fulham's goal came after a fairly innocent cross that an unmarked Steve Marlet was allowed to head past David Seaman from the back post. The closest to a culprit was left back of the day Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who went off injured just before half time. Arsenal are third in the table, three points behind leaders Manchester United with a game in hand, and one point behind Newcastle. |
