Today we'll see how Arsenal react to the loss of Robert Pires.
On the face of it, the signs are good. Lauren is missing with a
knee injury, but Dixon and Luzhny are more comfortable filling in
on that side. On the left, Ashley Cole is expected to continue.
And Tony Adams should be partnering Sol Campbell again (it'll be the skipper's 500th league game). Martin
Keown has played for the reserves but isn't quite ready to
return to first team action.
In midfield Ray Parlour is still sidelined with his ankle problem. Vieira, Ljungberg, Edu, and Wiltord seems a likely line-up with Bergkamp and Henry (returning from suspension and
looking sharp for France in midweek) up front.
emerson Thome and Julio Arca are sidelined with injuries,
but
Sunderland's official website says that Patrick Mboma
is also doubtful having missed the midweek internationals, and training this week, with a knee injury. Jason McAteer
may have picked up an injury with Ireland too.
If Mboma is out, they will probably start with just Phillips up front, and Arsenal old-boy Niall Quinn on the bench.
