As anticipated, Stuart Taylor has been named in today's
squad to face Everton. David Seaman is rested, and Richard Wright
will start in goal, but Taylor should be coming on at some point
ot pick up the 10th appearance that would make his premiership medal automatic.
Lee Dixon, following the announcement of his retirement
this morning, will presumably play in place of Lauren.
Martin Keown is out with a slight knock, but probably
would have been rested anyway.
Up front Henry and Bergkamp are expected to return.
By the way, there's still no news about the England players' availability
for Tony Adams testimonial on Monday night? Eriksson's squad
fly to Dubai that day and even if Lukic, Winterburn, Bould
and of course Dixon are able to be there, it'd feel strange
if Keown Seaman in particular were not able to be there.
Anyone heard anything?
And finally, we have it on good authority that Bobby Pires
is in England now and with the squad. Arseweb reader splodge saw him hobbling along with the squad this morning. Upson and Gio
were with them too as the whole squad gets together to
celebrate and pick up the cup. Upson, incidentally, is
back in training.
Just for the record (as if we care),
Everton will be missing Duncan Ferguson (suspended), Jesper Blomqvist, Alessandro Pistone and Idan Tal (injured).
Nick Chadwick is doubtful with a groin strain, Joe Max Moore, Wayne Rooney and Peter Clarke are all on international duty, and
Tobias Linderoth, Niclas Alexandersson, Thomas Gravesen and Lee Carsley could be rested as they've got the World Cup coming up.
Everton boss David Moyes says that they want "to finish as high up the table as we can and still want to try and qualify for the Inter-Toto Cup. We want to try and win the game to make that happen."
