Early team news for Utd and Valencia by Rupe

Alkex Ferguson has said that he does not expect any of his long term injry absentees to return for the visit of Arsenal on Saturday.

David Beckham (broken rib) is not expected to return to full training until next week. Roy Keane is making progress in his comeback from surgery, and may be training this week, but he won't be ready for Saturday lunchtime.

It looks very much like the return of Martin Keown means that Arsenal won't be recalling Matthew Upson from his loan spell at Reading. But Royals boss Alan Pardew is resigned to losing him after their big game against Portsmouth on Saturday. Upson's time at the Madejski stadium has coincided with a superb run for Reading, and they'd like to make the move permanent. But Matty's form was such that, should he decide to leave Arsenal in the transfer window, there will surely be bigger (Premiership) clubs that would be very interested.

The other players involved are Rio Ferdinand, Nicky Butt, and Laurent Blanc. Gary Neville came back on Sunday and put in a good performance in the win at Anfield. And if that game is anything to go by, Arsenal will have to be on top of their game to get a win out of the Old Trafford clash.

It looks like Valencia will be without their Spanish international keeper Santiago Cañizares when they come to Highbury on Tuesday week. He hurt his knee in a clash with Jordi Cruyff during Valencia's 0-0 draw with Deportivo Alavés. At first they thought it was severe ligament damage but they're more optimistic now. But it's still bad enough to rule him out,. probably, for 3 weeks or so.
