Man Utd went top of the table by a point yesterday thanks to a van Nistelrooy hattrick at home to Fulham, so Arsenal are in amust-win situation. The psychological boost to Utd of going top overnight is bad enough. If they stay there we'll be right up against it.
Having played despite fitness doubts in Valencia on Wednesday, both Vieira and Campbell face late tests before their availability is determined. Wenger is said to be optimistic. With Seaman, Keown, and Cole still out, Sol would be badly missed. Gio may return at left back. Oleg Luzhny is back in training and may be on the bench, although it's likely to be considered a bit soon for him.
Bergkamp, having had a rest in midweek, seems likely to return to the starting line-up alongside Henry. But you never know, Jeffers might get a game instead of one of them. Can't help feeling that if he does play, he'd benefit more from Dennis's passing than Henry's running.
Everton have a doub over the fitness of young full-back Tony Hibbert. He damaged ankle ligaments against West Ham last week. Another full-back, Pistone, is out having had a hernia operation. Joseph Yobo could be recalled to the defence.
Duncan Ferguson could return to the squad, having played a full game for the reserves in midweek, but is not thought to be in contention for a starting place.
On-loan American striker Brian McBride has apparently flown back to his homeland. His loan spell wasn't quite over, but when he heard that he wouldn't be playing against Arsenal anyway, and that his loan would not be made permanent, he decided to leave sooner rather than later.
