A niggling contest, with Arsenal not at their best and a number of perplexing refereeing decisions, not least of which was the dismissal of Petit in the 2nd half for two yellows. Everton had had Hutchison sent off in the first.
United win, Chelsea lose, so then there were two. Big question: will Petit's suspension keep him out of the Villa Park side? Probably, unless Spurs are willing to re-arrange the derby match to fall within Petit's 3 match suspension period. Not for the first time this season, our suspensions in key games v the pretenders come down to Spurs.
