After stunning Arsenal with a goal after 28 seconds, Eidur Gudjohnsen was later sent off. Patrick Vieira scored his first of the season after a trademark Dennis Bergkamp buildup. Edu's goal came at the back post after the Chelsea goalkeeper misjudged a corner kick. Manchester United drew 1-1 at home to Leeds, and that leaves Arsenal seven points ahead in the Premiership table.
