Ces Fabregas set yet another record against Everton on Sunday, becoming Arsenal's youngest ever Premiership player at 17 years 103 days (beating Gavin McGowan's previous record by a week).
He is already our youngest ever player (having appeared in the League cup last year at 16 years 177 days) and our youngest ever goalscorer (at 16 years 212 days, in the next round of the same competition).
He's got over a year to become our youngest ever Premiership scorer: a record held by Nic Anelka when he scored aged 18 years 230 days in a memorable 3-2 home win over Man Utd back in the 97-98 double season, but has only until the end of this month (3 matches) to become our youngest ever goalscorer in the league. Stewart Robson holds that one at 17 years 128 days.
More details and links on the Arseweb Record-breakers page (dedicated to David Roycastle). As part of my backlog-clearing process, this page has just been edited with a few additions and updates.. including the fascinating fact that Arsenal in 1952/53 won the league title with the least points ever!
Many thanks to everyone who's sent in material for that page (and others). Please keep it coming. |
