Narrow-minded Arsenal at the Riverside? by Rupe

Interesting team news from the Riverside.

The defence and attack in the 4-4-2 formation are as expected:

Hoyte Toure Senderos Clichy
Henry Adebayor

But in the midfield all 3 of Fabregas, Flamini, and Gilberto are playing. The fourth is, of course, Rosicky. Tomas will presumably play on the left, leaving Cesc or Matty on the right. Given that Cesc and Matty are both more naturally central midfielders, and that Tommy likes to come inside himself, this looks like a very narrow line-up. Perhaps we can expect to see Thierry and Emmanuel going wide a lot leaving space for the midfielders to push into.

On the bench we've got a trio of players that can be attacking wide men, in Denilson, Walcott, and Aliadiere, together with the returning defender Johan Djourou (using his versatility to cover all 3 defensive positions).

See earlier preview for more.
