Well would you believe it. Blackburn say goodbye to the top flight by holding ManU to a 0-0 draw; the Premiership does go to the last day of the season; and yes - Arsenal are banking on a result for George Graham and Tottenham Hotspur.
So here's what it will take for Arsenal to win the Championship:
- Arsenal beat Villa and ManU don't beat Spurs. Arsenal finish top with 78 points, ManU have 76 or 77.
- Arsenal draw with Villa, and Spurs beat ManU by 2 or more clear goals. Arsenal finish top on goal difference.
- ManU lose by one clear goal, and Arsenal-Villa is the highest scoring draw in history: 21-21 or higher. Arsenal finish top on goals scored. Well, it could happen.
So it's not true to say that Arsenal must beat Villa, although it will take something special for a draw to be enough. But if ManU beat Spurs, or Villa beat Arsenal, there's nothing we can do about it - the trophy goes back to Old Trafford.
