A crowd of 22500 turned up at Highbury last night to pay homage to Lee Dixon. An entertaining and reasonably competitive match finished 3-1 to Arsenal, Vieira and Bergkamp putting the Gunners 2-0 up at half time, and Malz adding a 3rd 20 minutes from time before Karembeu replied for the Spanish team.
As predicted, Anelka didn't turn up, but another former Arsenal striker did. Also predictably, Ian Wright did his best to steal the show, milking his introduction as a 2nd half sub to maximum effect. He also apparently delayed kick off by throwing
the shirts of several Arsenal players out of the dressing room window, meaning the kit man had to rush off to get more printed up.
