After the draw against Middlesbrough, manager Arsene
Wenger commented on the fact that his team was booed off
the Highbury pitch.
"Perhaps we gave the fans too much last season. If you eat
caviar every day, sometimes it is difficult to come back to
sausages and mash," Wenger said.
Some fans have reacted angrily. Full story can be accessed

I removed the link above because S-L removed the page,
but you can still read Bernard Azulay's reflections on the affair in his "Gooner's diary", which includes the following...
"by Monday morning, the press had cast Wenger as some sort of Marie Antoinette, totally misrepresenting a simple analogy used to compare the "caviar" type football on offer last season, with the "sausage" type fare that we are currently suffering. It is sad to see that there are still those gullible enough to believe their purported "let them eat cake" stories, when for most of us it is so obvious that a man of such integrity would never dream to pour scorn on the fans. Naturally the press dug out some of these fools, who could not care how they are represented, so long as their name appears in print, to give credence to this pack of lies"
