According to Wednesday's Gazet van Antwerpen
(a Belgian newspaper), Arsenal are talking to a club called
Germinal-Beerschot about possible future collaboration
(presumably similar lines to that existing between Arsenal
and St Etienne).
Germinal-Beerschot is, obviously, a great name.
It derives from
the (recent, June 1999 as far as I can make out) formation of the club from the ruins of
Germinal (no money) and Beerschot (no fans). They already have
an arrangement of some sort with Ajax. Coincidentally Antwerp FC have been co-operating with Manchester United (another Twerp FC) for the last year.
Thanks to a Belgian Gooner (Franklin, is it?) for the info. See
this list of
Germinal-Beerschot links.
