Arsenal-Lens is on SS1, but the final is on..... by Rupe

Sky's page of forthcoming live football has just been updated, to show that Arsenal vs Lens, the first leg of our UEFA Cup semi-final on April 6th, is being shown on Sky Sports 1 after all.

We had previously reported that they were only showing it on their digital channel Sky Sports News, because we'd heard that Sky had announced this, and their web page confirmed it. So naturally, we made a fuss about it.

I can only apologise for the confusion, and assure everyone that my intention was only ever to look out for the interests of ArseWeb readers and Arsenal fans everywhere (well, all those in the UK anyway).

The away leg will be on Sky Sports News only, so our rapidly-growing list of pubs showing Arsenal matches on Sky digital will not have been a worthless exercise.

Of course, the next question is: if one or both English clubs reaches the final, what channel would that be on? Is it too much to hope for, that the final would be on terrestrial telly? Thanks to Adam for finding this BBC page and this Observer one which reckon that the Beeb have got the UEFA Cup final! Imagine, live football on the BBC, and a match which one might conceivably want to watch, too. What will they think of next. Nice to have some good TV coverage news to report for change! Now, we just have to get past Lens...
