Borehamwood (0) 1 - 1 (0) Arsenal
Borehamwood, Friday 14th July 2000
Friendly
scorers: Selby 50 Lauren 55
A slightly disappointing result, but the result's not the main
thing in a game like this. Arsenal were missing our Euro2000 players, still on a break, and fielded a lot of youngsters and fringe players, especially towards the end.
Arsenal had to come from behind after a mistake from debutant Lauren let Selby in to score a great opener for the home side early in the second half. But the Camerounian made amends by scoring the equaliser from close range soon after, from a great run and cross by youngster Joe Osei-Kuffour (Pennant was on the other wing). Lauren looked good! (see also this item)
By all accounts both Dixon and Luzhny had good, fully-committed games. Maybe our idea that Lauren will be turned into a right back wasn't so close to the mark after all!
