The new man at the helm of crisis-club-Crystal-Palace, Simon Jordan has taken a pop at the Arsenal, in an interview published in his club's local paper, the Croydon Advertiser. He reckons that if Arsenal weren't in the Premiership, the Eagles would be a bigger club!
'I will get this club back where it should be,' Jordan reassures Palace fans. 'I hear a lot about Arsenal, but they are not that good. When I was at the Pocket Phone Shop we used to hear the same kind of thing about the Carphone Warehouse. But I knew how good we were.
'Arsenal could not depend on the kind of fan base we have here if they weren't successful, if they weren't in the Premiership.'
Arseweb financial desk reports... One2One purchased the Pocket Phone Shop in June 2000 for £73 million. The Carphone Warehouse floated on the Stock Exchange in July, with a market capitalisation of around £1.5 billion - twenty times the price. |
