"I think the Champions League status has suffered with so many teams being allowed to compete," the Nigerian says.

"It should just be the champions, no-one else. The title here is far more important than Europe."

Kanu believes that Arsenal's two failed Champions League campaigns stems from one thing: "Away from home we were as good as any team in the tournament. But you could see how our home form changed when we switched from Wembley to Highbury in the UEFA Cup."
