Plans announced by Tony Adams to open a clinic for alcoholic footballers have received a positive response from the FA and others.
'I think a lot of players are reluctant to come forward because of the stigma attached to the disease and because they think it will damage their careers,' said Tone, quoted by Sky News. 'I think managers and clubs might be more willing to let their players go to a centre like this.'
According to reports in the Sunday papers, Adams is planning a 12-bed centre, with full sporting facilities - 'a place for mind, body, and soul'. 'We certainly want to talk with him and move forward with it,' said the FA's chief medical officer. 'I think it's a fantastic thing.'
