Adams got Vialli situation right by Rupe

this is story 291 of 532 in this topic to date
Just a reminder that Tony Adams , who is expected to return to the side for the match at home to Coventry on Saturday, predicted the sacking of Gianluca Vialli.

In the excellent interview with Nick Hornby, Adams said

"I spoke to Platty and he was talking about Vialli, how he really regrets not taking some time out, and I think he might do it at the end of the year. I think this might be his last season, because if he's unsuccessful they'll get rid of him anyway. "
...and so they did, probably rather earlier than Tone was thinking.

Chelsea went to lengths to deny that Vialli was in any danger, Colin Hutchison going to the trouble of talking to David Platt, who he said denied having talked to Adams for over a year. So either Platt is clairvoyant, or Adams has been hearing voices. Either way, it just goes to prove the old adage that on hearing a vote of confidence from the board a manager should start thinking about his next post. And that Tony Adams knows what he's talking about, these days.

Not that we're saying Adams will be pleased at the treatment that Vialli got, having won 5 trophies in 2 years! But like us he'll be pleased at Arsenal's role. Surely losing 2 two goal leads at home to Arsenal in successive seasons had an impact. Viva Silvinho (or whatever it is in Portuguese).

I'm sticking to my previous prediction regarding the vacant job at Stamford Bridge. Expect George Graham to make a large "leaving present" bid for John Hartson and then scarper. :-)
