Arsenal aren't the only ones to get caught by Brazilians travelling on fake Portuguese passports. Italian side Udinese went to Poland for a UEFA Cup game against Polonia Warsaw during the week - and hit problems with two Brazilian players, Warley and Alberto.
The two attempted to enter the country on Portuguese passports, but these were judged to be fakes by Warsaw immigration officials. The two were briefly held at the airport, but were let into the country when they produced their Brazilian passports.
The club is now stuck with two non-EU players it didn't know about, and may face problems with the Serie A rule that a squad can only contain 5 non-EU nationals, with only 3 on the pitch at any one time. |
