"Maybe in educating young players nowadays, you look more for people who can play the ball than for natural leaders," says Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, quoted by the Telegraph. Again, the discussion is prompted by the fact that Arsenal look a different team without captain Tony Adams on the field. Wenger confirms that Adams will play against Spartak Moscow tonight, despite his long running back problem. "... Players like that have made it to the top because they have the character, not because they have the skill," says Wenger. The manager still sees hope: "One natural leader amongst the young players could be Vieira," he concedes.
