Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has added to the confusion regarding Arsenal's transfer policy, saying that there is
plenty of money for Arsene to spend if he wants it.
See eg Zoo Football.
The figure of £50million is being bandied about, although I haven't yet seen that in a direct quote.
If the figure is right, and Wenger really doesn't plan to but more than a couple of new players, then one might conclude that
those players would have to be pretty pricey.
But as usual, there is little point in speculating. Vieira and
Cole prove that you don't need to spend £25million per player to get quality, and we can all think of plenty of example to prove that loadsamoney transfers don't guarantee anything.
We suspect that nothing has changed or will change. Arsenal will continue to buy with sense and ambition, and we're unlikely to have much of a clue what they'll be doing until it's already happened.
